Character reports
Nurse

1. What does your character want in this scene?
Objective: Nurse was encouraging Juliet to marry Paris.

2. What is your character’s motivation for doing what he or she does?
Motivation: Nurse wanted to see Juliet having good life after marriage with Paris.

3.What obstacles stand in his or her way?
Obstacles: Lady Capulet and Nurse was encouraging Juliet to marry Paris, however Juliet was saying It's too early to marry someone for her.

4. What happens when your character confronts these obstacles?
Nurse told Juliet that just like fish lives in sea, women lives with a husband; therefore, woman's going to have good life after marriage. Also she was telling Juliet that Paris is perfect man for her too marry.

5. Are there andy distincitve elements in your character's way of speaking?(Is his or her language elavorate, plain, musical, or what?)
Nurse was extremely positive and glad about marriage, thus her voice will be very happy.

6. What is your character thinking during the scene?(How does he or she react to the other characters and events?)
Nurse was thinking about Juliet's past, how she was born, and how nurse raised her. She was very glad that finally Juliet is old enough to marry someone. She thought that now Juliet is going to have good life in marriage.

-Basic Event: Nurse, Juliet, and lady capulet are talking about marriage with Paris. Nurse and Lady Capulet strongly agrees and happy about her marriage with Paris, and Juliet doesn’t seem to reject the request.

-This scene was important because this shows that in the beginning Juliet doesn’t necessarily reject the request and seemed to be interesting in marriage; thus, if she didn’t meet Romeo later, she could have just married with Paris and not die because of Romeo.

-My reaction- I don’t understand why Juliet is agreeing with the marriage. First she doesn’t even know who is she marrying with and any ideas about Paris. Second, it’s sad that her parents are making all the decisions for her and Juliet can not do anything about it. Third, in that time period, I think marriage wasn’t promise of love, I think it was more of promise of good reputation with other family.

Scene Analysis

What happens in the scene?
Montague, Lady Capulet, Capulet, and the Prince find Romeo, Juliet, and Paris dead inside the vault. The Prince thinks it's a murder, but Friar Lawrence explains what has happened. After listening, Montague and Capulet agree to come to peace and offer to make a statue for both Romeo and Juliet.

What is the key purpose of this scene?
This is the most important scene in the whole story because it is the part where the two enemies come to peace over the death of their children. Without this scene, there would be no conclusion to the story.

What are your reactions to this scene?

For this scene only, I felt that the ending was a bit boring. Well, first of all, isn't the story boring when two rivals all of sudden come to peace after some deaths? I mean, there was no thrill, or any middle story. It was just like hate, death, and then peace. I think the ending could have been improved with the whole story. Well, thats what I think.

He seems a bit afraid, and he kind of thinks that he’s going to get punished for what he had done. At least he seems like it. He also seems like he is thinking about Romeo and Juliet’s death.
